Medicaid and Medicare

Medicaid is a program that helps pay for medical necessary medical services for needy and low income persons.  The Department of Human Services (DHS) runs the Medicaid Program in Arkansas.  Medicaid and Medicare are different programs. (To apply for Medicaid, contact your local Department of Human Services).  Medicare is a Federal health insurance program for people 65 or older and certain disabled people.  Listed below are phone numbers that are available to call for information about Medicare.

Medicare Enrollment or Lost Medicare Cards

To apply for Medicare, contact your local Social Security office or the national Social Security toll-free Number 1-800-772-1213.  Notify Social Security if you lose your Medicare card.  Look under “Social Security” in the table of contents for the Social Security office nearest you.
