Top 4 Cancers in Arkansas

Lung:

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Arkansas.  The American Cancer Society estimates that the annual mortality rate due to lung cancer is 71.3% in Arkansas compared to 57.7% nationally.

Colorectal:

Arkansas’ mortality rate due to colorectal cancer is 21.3%.  Approximately 1500 men and women are newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer every year.

Prostate:

The most common cancer for men, excluding skin cancer; in Arkansas, the mortality rate due to prostate cancer is considered very high at 37.4%.  Approximately 2600 Arkansas men will be newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. 

Breast:

The most common cancer for women, excluding skin cancer; with a mortality rate of 26.7% in Arkansas, approximately 2000 new cases of breast cancer will occur this year.
