Bereavement Care |

We are excited to offer you an additional area of support: Bereavement Care. If you have lost someone you loved, there are no words, written or spoken, that can take away the pain you now feel.
The grief journey is not one you are likely to get over. Instead, you learn to live with it. Of course, this does not mean that you will never experience happiness again. Quite the opposite occurs as many people successfully move toward healing and find that their lives are even fuller and more meaningful than they were before the death happened. What must take place in your life is to allow yourself the time and compassion to mourn. If you truly work through your grief, you will also heal.
East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging Family Care Specialists have completed the necessary training through the Center For Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado under the leadership of Dr. Allen Wolfelt. He is internationally known and recognized as North America’s top grief counselor, as well as author and teacher. Our Family Care Specialist will be offering bereavement support groups to area residents.

The format of this unique, interactive class is a 12-week commitment complete with instructional materials, discussion, a remembrance ceremony, and graduation at the end of three months. The grief journey is one that needs a companion to help you to heal. The principles are not based on a medical model and our time together will be your safe haven to begin your healing process. All participants are pre-screened and each class can only accommodate 12 per class due to the nature of the subject matter and the intensive self-realization that takes place.
Help yourself to heal, dispel all the traditional myths about grief and reach out for help. In order to fully heal, you must first understand that during the grieving process each of us has to reconcile within our hearts the need to mourn…..and to do so in the right way. These and other meaningful principles are taught during a three month process. For many grieving people, support groups are one of the best helping resources available. In a group, you can connect with others who have experienced similar thoughts and feelings. You will be allowed and gently encouraged to talk about the person who died as much and as often as you like.
The East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging is proud to extend this opportunity to those who desire support and welcome you to take full advantage of our staff’s training and skills. For more information or to enroll, please call Rose Trosper at (870) 930-2204 or Janis Waddy at (870) 238-0845. |
