Other Activities

 

Oil Painting Classes:

Classes meet every Thursday afternoon from 1:00 -3:00 p.m.  Each student must provide their own basic oil paint and brushes. 

Zumba:

Classes meet every Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the agency conference room. 

Ukulele Band:

The Ukulele Band meets each Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in the Agency conference room for practice.  They are often asked to provide entertainment for numerous groups.  They invite new members to join at any time. 

Quilting Club:

The group meets the second Friday of every month at 9:00 a.m. in the agency arts and crafts room.  Experienced quilters and beginners are all welcomed.

Line Dancing:

Forrest City: Classes are taught Wednesday's from 3:00 -  4:00 p.m. at the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging's Lifestyles building located at 313 Arkansas Street.  Classes are free of charge.

Wynne Senior Center: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Madison Senior Center:  11:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Walk-it-Out

Forrest City: EAAAA Lifestyles Building 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.                                                                                            

Wynne:  Boys and Girls Club 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Marianna:  Mairanna Senior Center 9:00 -  9:30 a.m.

Softball Team:

The men’s softball team have scheduled practices and ball tournaments April – October.  The team has their own field located next to the American Legion.  Interested individuals are welcomed to join at any time.

Senior Games:

This event promotes preventative medicine by providing senior adults (50+) a means to participate in numerous activities in friendly competition.  Senior adults compete in age categories such as 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, ECT..  Some of the events are: track and field, bowling, dominoes, checkers, horseshoes, basketball shoot, softball and football throw, daisy air gun and many more. 

Knitting & Crochet:

The group meets Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Art and Crafts room.  Beginners and experienced knitters and crotchetiers are welcomed.  Materials will be provided for beginners.  Classes are free of charge.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are an extension of the Area Agency on Aging and provide valuable services such as conducting classes and workshops and assisting with specials projects.

Other Activities:

Organized events, health fairs, variety of classes and informational programs are conducted periodically and are advertised in the local newspapers.
