The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation program provides transportation to individuals of all ages to local or long distance medical appointments. For more information or to schedule a ride, call (870) 930-2264 or 1-888-240-2264 (48 hours advance notice).
How do I arrange a ride?
To arrange a ride you must call at least 48 hours before your doctors visit. Weekends and holidays do not count. This means that if your appointment is on:
- Monday, call by Thursday
- Tuesday, call by Friday
- Wednesday, call by Monday
- Thursday, call by Tuesday
- Friday, call by Wednesday
What information do I need to give the Area Agency on Aging?
- You must have your Medicaid ID
- You need to tell the day, time and place of your appointment
- You must give them 48 hour notice
- You must be ready when they arrive
What if I must travel outside my region to see a specialist?
Your doctor must give the Area Agency on Aging a referral that explains why you need to travel farther than normal to see a specialist.
What if I need an urgent appointment?
If your doctor feels your health needs are urgent, the Area Agency on Aging will waive the 48 hour rule. You doctor must tell the Area Agency on Aging why you cant wait 48 hours.
What if I have appointments at the same time each week?
You need to call the Area Agency on Aging and ask them to set up a regular schedule for you. If there is a week when you do not need a ride call at least 48 hours before they would have picked you up to cancel for that week.
