Personal Care Training

East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging provides Personal Care Training to people who have not completed CNA or PCA training and who are seeking employment with us.  Completion of this training will qualify students for the positions we have available.

Students must be at least 18 years of age and able to read, write, and follow directions in English.  The training includes lessons on communication skills, body functions, disease common among the elderly and disabled populations, mental health, personal care skills and record keeping.

The classes are conducted at the Area Agency on Aging located 2005 East Highland in Jonesboro.  Classes are held form 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day for 7 days.  Class sizes are limited and the Area Agency on Aging reserves the right to restrict participation based on criteria set by the instructor.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be qualified to work for a provider of personal care services as a personal care aide, under the supervision of a professional person.  In order to receive a certificate, participants must attend the entire class and pass a written and skills test.  East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging will waive the cost of the certificate for students who are hired by the agency.
