Foster Grandparent Program

East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging Foster Grandparent Program
The East Arkansas Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) provides lower-income seniors age 55+ with meaningful volunteer service opportunities to children with special needs. Foster Grandparents provide invaluable aid to more than 80,000 children and youth nationwide who have exceptional needs.

In improving the lives of the children they serve, FGP’s also profoundly enrich their own lives. They help children who have been abused or neglected, mentor youth in schools, Head Start, and day care centers. They serve fifteen or more hours each week in various locations, spending one on one time to help these children with special needs improve their daily lives.

Foster Grandparent volunteers receive a modest hourly stipend, transportation allowance and a free meal daily in addition to supplemental insurance coverage while on duty. The East Arkansas Foster Grandparent Program sponsors volunteers in the following counties: Clay, Randolph, Lawrence, Greene, Mississippi, Craighead, Poinsett, Cross, Crittenden, St. Francis and Lee counties.
